This event, which was held at ITC Royal Bengal and Sonar, was the last of one of the most prominent academic, social, and cultural events in neuroscience and was held in Kolkata for the first time in almost thirty years. The four-day conference at NSICON 2024, on 19-22 December, brought more than 1,500 neurosurgeons, neurologists, neuropathologists, neuroradiologists, neuroanesthetists, neuro nurses, and other neuroscientists. International speakers provided orations and special lectures to make the NSICON 2024 an international meeting to progress in neuroscience. The conference also included public health topics and cultural heritage with five hands-on workshops scheduled on 18 December at NRS Medical College and BIN, Park Clinic that included advanced treatments of complex neurological conditions through cadaveric and model-based simulations for young specialists. The entire conference was supplemented by vibrant cultural programs celebrating the regional and national heritage of India. It further included depth and diversity with non-medical speakers discussing ethics in medicine and other contemporary issues. The concluding day featured a panel discussion on organ donation, which underlined the life-saving potential and spoke to India's dire need for increased awareness and participation in organ donation given the daily deaths from lack of available organs. The discussion was aimed at educating people about the process, eligibility, and common myths about organ donation.
