News Desk, News Nation 360 : As part of its Culture Friday program, the British Council, the UK's international agency for cultural exchanges and educational opportunities, will film the highly regarded documentary "The Beatles and India" in Kolkata on January 17. Under the direction of Ajoy Bose, a well-known Indian author and political journalist, this 2021 documentary film delves at the Beatles' long-lasting romance with India, which started over fifty years ago. The documentary vividly depicts George, John, Paul, and Ringo's incredible journey from their hectic celebrity lives in the West to a remote Himalayan ashram in pursuit of spiritual bliss—a quest that sparked an unparalleled outpouring of imaginative songwriting—through rare archival footage, photographs, eyewitness accounts, and knowledgeable commentary. The British Council Library in Kolkata will screen the documentary "The Beatles and India" on Friday, 17th January 2025, at 6 PM. After the screening, there will be a riveting conversation with Ajoy Bose, the director of the documentary and author of the book "Across the Universe: The Beatles in India." He will be in conversation with Malavika Banerjee, the Director of the Kolkata Literary Meet. This event is open only to those above 18 years of age, and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. No registration is required to attend this free event.
