News Desk, News Nation 360 : In partnership with the Carrom (29) Association of Bengal, Acropolis Mall organised a day-long Invitational Carrom Tournament, bringing the mall to life with enthusiasm and deft accuracy. With players showcasing their skills on the carrom boards and excited onlookers encouraging the fierce battle, the event turned the mall into a vibrant centre. Chandan Chaudhary and Chottu Mondal from Hooghly emerged as the winners at the end of the competition. The first runners-up were Subha Sarkar and Deep Thakur from Hooghly, and the second runners-up were Dibyendu Simlai and Lakshman Murmu from LIESC. 32 players competed in doubles matches on eight 29-inch carrom boards when the tournament got underway at 11 AM. Representatives from several organisations, including the Income Tax Department, competed in a knockout tournament. Eight pre-quarterfinal matches, four quarterfinals, two semifinals, and an exciting final match were all part of the painstakingly planned format. The regulations stated that teams that scored 25 points advanced to the next round. A committed group of twelve referees made sure that everyone played fairly during the competition. Notable celebrities graced the awards ceremony, including Sourav Chakraborty, National Table Tennis Coach and renowned Commonwealth Games medallist, and Jahar Das, Honorary General Secretary of the Bengal Olympic Association and a former Mohun Bagan football player. They praised the players for their outstanding efforts and gave prizes to the winners. Speaking on the occasion, Subhadip Basu, Corporate GM, Mall and Hospitality, Merlin Group, stated that a beloved family and social game that promotes ties and unity is carrom. Even though it demands a great deal of talent, strategy, and accuracy, it hasn't yet received the respect it merits as a professional sport. Their mission at Acropolis Mall is to use sports to foster a culture of physical fitness, intelligence, and agility. They are grateful to the Carrom (29) Association of Bengal for collaborating with them to host this competition, demonstrating their proficiency and raising awareness of the game.
