Amazon Alexa Study: 54% of Parents said They Frequently Feel as Though They Can't Provide Quick Answers to Their Children's Enquiries

News Desk, News Nation 360 : Since children are naturally interested, parents are constantly looking for reliable information to satisfy their curiosity. A recent survey by Kantar and Amazon Alexa, which included more than 750 parents in six cities in June 2024, made this clear. According to the study, over 54% of parents frequently feel as though they are unable to provide prompt answers to their children's enquiries. It also shows that 52% of respondents look up the solution right away and provide a correct response if they are unsure of it. Interestingly, 44% of parents who responded to the poll acknowledged making up their responses on the spot. A survey of parents revealed that children's curiosity is often sparked by activities like watching TV, travelling, studying, outdoor play, and even overhearing adult conversations. Common topics of inquiry include food, animals, nature, general knowledge, holidays, technology, and movies. While some kids ask complex questions about car manufacturing, the universe, or flight, many parents find themselves stumped by seemingly simple queries about seasons, work, or hygiene. Over 60% of parents admit to struggling with these

questions, with 37% deflecting them to the other parent. Only a small percentage ignore or change the subject. To address this, over 80% of parents turn to technology for answers, with voice assistants like Alexa proving particularly helpful in providing quick and informative responses to a wide range of children's questions, fostering a more curious and engaged learning environment. Dilip R.S., Country Manager for Alexa, Amazon India stated that kids are naturally inquisitive and looking for answers about the world around them, whether their questions are impromptu or more knowledge-based or unusual for their age. Parents must answer their enquiries in an educational, comprehensible, productive, and age-appropriate manner. An indication that Alexa is becoming a parent's information and education centre is the 25 million enquiries that families with small children ask her each month throughout the globe. Their goal is to keep improving the Alexa experience for families with young children by adding useful skills that will enable them to learn new things every day and have fun.
