News Desk, News Nation 360 : With the successful conclusion of the Women's Player Draft for Season 2, which took place on April 28, 2023, the Bengal Pro T20 League made a major advancement in the promotion of women's cricket. As teams put together their women's teams for the eagerly awaited season, the event saw an amazing turnout of skill, excitement, and strategic team-building. After the first season of the Bengal Pro T20 League, the performance of the Bengal Women's team has shown marked improvement in all BCCI tournaments for all age groups, including becoming national Champions at the U15 level. Draft selection process saw 188 listed players, comprising the best performers of the senior Bengal side, India U19 talent, and promising players from district, club, U19, and U15 cricket, put on the block. All eight franchises were involved, constructing teams with a healthy blend of youth and experience. A few youngsters were picked and will be making their debut in the league this season. The eight marquee players for this season are Dhara Gujjar for Adamas Howrah Warriors, Priyanka Bala for Servotech Siliguri Strikers, Mita Paul for Lux Shyam Kolkata Tigers, Hrishita Basu for Sobisco Smashers Malda, Richa Ghosh for Rashmi Medinipur Wizards, Piyali Ghosh for Shrachi Rarh Tigers, Saika Ishaque for Harbour Diamonds, and Tanushree Sarkar for Murshidabad Kueens. Snehasish Ganguly, President of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), hailed the event as a landmark occasion and stated that the women’s draft reinforces their commitment to nurturing talent and building a sustainable platform for women’s cricket in Bengal.
