News Desk, News Nation 360 : The Bhaktivedanta Research Centre (BRC) and BharatGen, a flagship project under the TIH Foundation (TIH) at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work together on creating software and services powered by artificial intelligence (AI) for Indological research. BharatGen is a government-funded initiative under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS) that aims to develop a multimodal large language model for Indian languages. Led by TIH, a not-for-profit organization focused on IoT research, BharatGen aims to advance language technologies tailored to India's diverse linguistic landscape. This initiative has partnered with BRC, a renowned research centre dedicated to preserving and disseminating
India's rich historical and cultural heritage. BRC is a part of mainstream universities and contains manuscripts, journals, and books that reflect Indian history, philosophy, and culture. This cooperation seeks to exploit the AI and IoT expertise possessed by BharatGen in developing seminal software tools that will transform methodologies in Indological research. It propels the establishment of a sustainable system that will help bridge the divide between antiquity and modernity. This collaboration can drive that revolutionary journey for Indological research," highlighted Prof. Ganesh Ramakrishnan, Principal Investigator of BharatGen, adding to the importance of AI in Indological research. Dr. Sumanta Rudra, Dean of Academic Affairs at BRC, commented that this collaboration will support research researchers working on Bengali texts and help make use of the newest technology.
