News Desk, News Nation 360 : Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL) and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) officially opened the Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains production line at TRSL's state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Uttarpara, Kolkata, West Bengal. Senior officials from TRSL and BHEL, including Bani Varma, Director of BHEL, and Umesh Chowdhary, Vice Chairman & Managing Director of TRSL, officially opened the production line. The 80 Vande Bharat Sleeper train set production line has been set up by TRSL in its Uttarpara factory in West Bengal, based on a contract received from Indian Railways to a joint venture of TRSL and BHEL. This project of about INR 24000 crore, including maintenance for 35 years, is a big initiative to boost the 'Make in India' and 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' initiative. The Vande Bharat Sleeper variant is conceptualised as India's first semi-high-speed long-distance train with a completely indigenous design, improved passenger comfort, state-of-the-art safety features, contemporary layout, intelligent onboard systems, and energy-efficient operation to revolutionise intercity travel. With the Uttarpara factory now producing, the prototype Vande Bharat Sleeper trains are expected to be ready within the next calendar year, ushering in faster, smarter, and locally produced rail travel. The Uttarpara factory is at the heart of this vision, employing Industry 4.0 technology and automated production lines, and being a first in India for the manufacturing of both stainless steel and aluminium coaches under one roof, currently with an annual capacity of 300 coaches, growing to 850 to cater to increasing demand.
