Childlessness on the Rise: Experts to Train Doctors in West Bengal

News Desk, News Nation 360 : A growing concern over childlessness in India, particularly in West Bengal, is prompting a focused response from the medical community. According to the National Family Health Service report, India’s birth rate has plummeted from 3.35 in 2000 to 2.112 today, while West Bengal’s stands at an alarming 1.2. To address this issue, Srishti Infertility Clinic is hosting a one-day training camp for young doctors during its annual conference. The workshop will delve into advanced infertility treatments, including ultrasonography, robotic surgery, and IVF.

Leading the training are renowned experts such as Dr. Deepyaman Ganguly, Principal Scientist at the Indian Institute of Chemical Biology and Vatnagar Prize winner, along with Dr. Sudeep Bose and Dr. Nitin Chaubal. Dr. Bose emphasized the significance of early intervention, stating that it often leads to better outcomes at a lower cost. He attributed the increasing incidence of childlessness to lifestyle changes and urged for regular check-ups to detect and treat underlying issues like hormonal imbalances, blocked fallopian tubes, or cysts. Infertility is a complex problem with various causes, including egg or sperm abnormalities, fallopian tube defects, and uterine lining issues. Artificial Reproductive Techniques (ART) can offer solutions by creating embryos in a laboratory. Raising awareness about these options is crucial, experts say. The initiative aims to equip doctors with the necessary skills to tackle the growing challenge of infertility and provide hope to couples struggling to conceive.
