Diamond Harbour Coffee House Celebrated Their Anniversary

News Desk, News Nation 360 : The memory-laden tradition of Kolkata's iconic Coffee Houses reached Diamond Harbour a year ago, and the new branch has already become a local favourite. Serving up nostalgic dishes like chicken sandwiches, kabiraji, and fish fry alongside various coffees, the Diamond Harbour Coffee House offers both online ordering and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. To celebrate its first anniversary, the Coffee House hosted a special event featuring eminent poet Prasun Bhowmik, local dignitaries, and a captivating "Father-Daughter Dialogue"

performance by Prasun Bhowmik and his daughter Rishika. The evening continued with folk songs by Tirtha Biswas, expertly guided by renowned poet, playwright, and activist Soumit Basu. Nur Islam Laskar, the owner, expressed his gratitude for the community's love and support, vowing to continue the legacy. The Coffee House tradition itself stretches back to Kolkata's historic Albert Hall, a hub for freedom fighters and intellectuals. Every table has witnessed cultural, literary, and intellectual movements, from the Naxalite movement to the rise of new writers and little magazines. Over steaming cups of coffee and plates of kabiraji and omelettes, luminaries like Rabindranath Tagore, Subhas Chandra Bose, Satyajit Ray, and Amartya Sen have all graced its halls. Originally under the Indian Coffee Board, the Coffee House was handed over to its employee cooperative in 1958, ensuring its legacy continues to be built and cherished by the community it serves.
