Emcure Pharma Collaborates With Mothers to Normalise Breastfeeding in Public

News Desk, News Nation 360 : During World Breastfeeding Week, Emcure Pharmaceuticals, an Indian pharmaceutical business that specialises in the women's healthcare sector, launched a public awareness campaign. With this project, Emcure hopes to break down barriers to breastfeeding in public, normalise the practice, and start a dialogue that will help moms feel comfortable and secure while doing so. WHO and UNICEF advocate for breastfeeding within the first hour of birth and exclusively for the first six months, highlighting its numerous benefits for infants. Despite breastfeeding being a natural process, many mothers face challenges in public due to social stigma and lack of support. To address this, Emcure is collaborating with mothers during World Breastfeeding Week to promote public breastfeeding. The campaign involves sharing personal stories, capturing heartwarming breastfeeding moments in public spaces through videos, and creating "Breastfeeding Zone" awareness in nine different locations across India, aiming to normalize and encourage this essential practice. Speaking on the occasion, Namita Thapar, Whole-time Director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals Ltd, stated that even in cities, breastfeeding is generally not permitted in public locations. Women feel uneasy and vulnerable when they are the target of unwanted and persistent stares. Their goal is to raise awareness so that people can make their surroundings cosy and inviting so that mothers can freely feed their infants. Their mission is to advance a nursing mother-friendly and accepting culture. Their commitment is to bringing about the realisation that every mother has the right to breastfeed her child whenever and wherever they need them.
