Meghalaya is Getting Ready to Host the Highly Anticipated Me·Gong Festival in 2024

The Swedish rock band "Europe," Gajendra Verma, the Mumbai-based Indian rock group Indus Creed, the Indian pop rock group Euphoria, and the Bollywood actress-turned-dj Uddita Goswami are among the interesting acts on the festival's lineup. The venue for this event is the Baljek Airport in Jenjal, West Garo Hills, Tura. This festival, which has as its theme "Echoes of Traditions," is anticipated to draw an audience of around 3 lakh people. The Me·Gong Festival, a two-day cultural extravaganza scheduled for November 29th and 30th, 2024, is in store to mesmerize the spectators with its diversified activities. This year's festival would be a great

celebration of the rich cultural heritage of the Garo people through appealing cultural performances, traditional games, and sports competitions, along with exquisite handloom, handicraft, and culinary exhibitions. This festival will also serve as an avenue for local talent, hosting renowned bands such as Da Suraka and Summer Salt. A tradition of this festival is going to be a show featuring tribal dresses and handwoven fabrics, but Garo will be highlighted. Building on the success of previous editions, which had over 2.3 lakh visitors and featured performances by international and national artists like Venga Boys, Armaan Malik, Parikrama, and MLTR, Me·Gong 2024 aims to be an even grander celebration of Garo culture. This year's festival promises to be an exciting experience for all, bringing together the local communities, tourists, artists, artisans, and culture enthusiasts to celebrate the vibrant heritage of the Garo people.
