GJEPC Celebrated the Silver Jubilee of its Eastern Regional Office in Kolkata

News Desk, News Nation 360 : With the support of the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Gems and Jewelery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), India's leading trade association, commemorated the silver jubilee (25th) anniversary of its Eastern Regional Office in Kolkata. GJEPC hosted IIJS Signature 2025, the first B2B trade event, which brought in almost Rs 35,000 crore in revenue. With over 1,500 exhibitors and 3,000 stations spread across 1.25 lakh square meters of exhibition space at two venues in Mumbai, the event has experienced exponential growth. More than 25,000 trade visitors attended the expo, including more than 1,000 foreign visitors from more than 60 countries and retailers from more than 800 Indian towns. GJEPC's chairman, Vipul Shah; vice chairman, Kirit Bhansali; ED, Sabyasachi Roy; regional chairman for Eastern India, Pankaj Parekh; MD & CEO, Senko Gold & Diamonds, and member of the GJEPC's SEZ committee, Shubhankar Sen; At the Bengal Paddle Jetty in Kolkata, a large gathering of distinguished members and notable figures from the gem and jewellery industry celebrated the milestone. The Chief Guest for the event was the IRS Principal Commissioner of Customers, Airports, and ACC Kolkata, Shivaji H. Dange. The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) is planning to make Singur, West Bengal, a global export hub for fashion and costume jewellery. The region has a skilled workforce, a large number of whom are women, and an ideal location that will help in boosting local industries and creating new jobs. Singur offers an excellent position in capitalizing on the changes in global trade due to raw materials availability including local gypsum, transportation, and international markets proximity. Building upon the rich handicraft heritage in Kolkata, India can utilize the country's expertise in design as well as superior technology to dominate the gems and jewellery market on a global level by fitting into the Prime Minister's "Bhikshu India" dream.
