News Desk, News Nation 360 : Cervical and ovarian cancers are two of the leading health dangers for Indian women, with over 1.2 lakh new cervical cancer cases every year resulting in over 67,000 fatalities. Healthcare experts recommend that women take top priority for routine screening, vaccination, and seeking medical attention early because of these extremely high statistics. Women must be observant of warning signs, e.g., exceedingly heavy or unpredictable periods, bleeding after menopause or after sexual intercourse, irregular vaginal discharge, abdominal distension, loss of hunger, or abrupt belly swelling, and visit a gynecologic cancer specialist when suspicious signs and symptoms appear because early detection and prompt treatment, usually through surgery, hold the best promise of a cure. Causes include, with risk increased by age and HPV infection being the main cause of cervical cancer; there are certain cancers, such as ovarian and breast cancer, that may be inherited. Diet and lifestyle are important contributing factors, with obesity and diet playing a part in increasing risk and a healthy diet, exercise, and maintaining weight lessening the risk of developing certain gynecologic cancers. Prevention is mainly achieved by the extremely effective HPV vaccine, Pap smear and HPV screening for early diagnosis, genetic testing in the presence of a strong family history, healthy lifestyles, and routine checkups. Advanced treatments bring hope with the latest surgeries, such as minimally invasive and robotic procedures, direct intra-abdominal chemotherapy in certain advanced-stage cases, and newer targeted agents and immunotherapy based on the individual patient's needs.
