News Desk, News Nation 360 : MP Bob Blackman has called on the UK government to provide an official apology for the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in a momentous occasion in the British Parliament. More than a century after the terrible incident, there is still a growing call for responsibility. There was a speech made in the Parliament regarding the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. It occurred on 13th April, 1919. There were families peacefully gathered in Jallianwala Bagh on that day. They had wished to have some sunshine and enjoy each other's company. General Dyer was present, representing the British people. He had commanded his men to march. He then commanded them to shoot at the unarmed masses. They continued shooting until they used up all the bullets. A total of 1500 people lost their lives after this horrific incident. Another 1200 people were wounded. Later, General Dyer was shamed for what he did. This incident was regarded as a blot on the British Empire. In 2019, then Prime Minister Theresa May spoke about how this was a blot on British rule in India. There is now a call for a statement from the government. The statement would recognize what went wrong. It would also provide a formal apology to Indians. The anniversary of the massacre is approaching on April 13th this year. Parliament is in recess at that time. There is a new film releasing as well. It is titled "Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh." This movie will depict the tale of this tragic chapter of history. It will be based on C Sankaran Nair. He was a lawyer who struggled against the British to make the truth of the massacre public. Since this history is being remembered once more, some are demanding justice again. The remark in the Parliament makes people consider Britain's responsibility for events when it was a colonial empire.
