There are also other initiatives to support the farmer through skill development and income generation. To address water scarcity, natural resource management projects are being undertaken in water-stressed districts, creating water harvesting structures and expanding irrigation capabilities, which in turn opens avenues for aquaculture and livestock farming. Holistic development projects are transforming rural areas through renewable energy access, quality education, clean water, and coastal restoration. Simultaneously, skill centres of modern standards are equipping urban youth with employment opportunities in reputed companies. These comprehensive interventions aim at sustainable development, improvement in livelihoods, and overall quality of life for the people of West Bengal. Nusrat Pathan, Head of CSR at HDFC Bank stated that at HDFC Bank, they prioritise empowering communities and bringing about constructive change at the local level to promote socioeconomic development. To accomplish these objectives in the state of West Bengal, they have started a portfolio of projects. Their goal is to promote sustainable development by focusing on livelihood, education, skill development, community well-being, and the management of natural resources.
