In keeping with this sense of community, Ibiza The Fern Resort & Spa in Kolkata held a lavish cake-mixing ceremony today on its lush lawn while taking in the fall's golden rays. Celebrity painter Eleena Banik and actress Alivia Sarkar joined the vibrant celebrations, embracing the occasion. Zaffar Rahman, EAM (F&B), Ibiza The Fern Resort & Spa, Kolkata, and Subhadip Basu, Corporate General Manager – Hospitality & Mall (Merlin Group), formally opened the celebration. Visitors, cooks, resort employees, and locals eagerly put on Santa hats, aprons, and gloves to partake in the robust mingling of dry fruits, nuts, raisins, and liquors. A festive spirit filled the air as guests and celebrities donned aprons, gloves, and Santa caps to participate in a unique Christmas tradition. Under the guidance of expert chefs, they gathered to mix a colossal concoction of 25 kg of assorted fruits with 16 litres of premium spirits. The festive ambience was enhanced by Christmas decorations
and live musical performances, creating a joyful atmosphere of camaraderie. After 28 days of steeping, this flavorful mixture will be transformed into delectable Christmas cakes, puddings, and Dundee cakes. The event culminated in a sumptuous feast, offering guests a delightful culinary experience that perfectly complemented the festive cheer. Subhadip Basu, Corporate General Manager – Hospitality & Mall (Merlin Group) stated that a beloved custom that symbolises the joyous approach of Christmas is the Cake Mixing Ceremony. It is much more than just a culinary pastime; it represents joy, community, and solidarity. It establishes the mood for the holiday season by fusing creativity, tradition, and a mutual appreciation of the joyous occasion. Every year, they at Ibiza commemorate this tradition with delight and merriment, accompanied by their visitors, coworkers, and special guests. They are thrilled that artist Eleena Banik and actress Alivia Sarkar will be attending this year.
