In Partnership with the Bengal Chess Association, Acropolis Mall is Pleased to Announce the Second Interschool Chess Competition 2024

News Desk, News Nation 360 : Acropolis Mall, in collaboration with the Bengal Chess Association, hosted the Second Interschool Chess Competition 2024, marking its second consecutive year of organizing this intense event. Over 125 students from 50 prominent schools, including Don Bosco School, St. Xavier's Collegiate School, Mahadevi Birla High School, Lakshmipat Singhania Academy, DPS Ruby Park, South Point High School, Calcutta International School, South City International, Loreto House, Heritage School, La Martiniere for Girls School, and La Martiniere for Boys, participated in the competition held at the mall. Esteemed personalities like Pranab Bardhan, Asian Games gold medalist, Atanu Lahiri, International Master and CEO of the Bengal Chess Association, and Subhadip Basu, GM of Acropolis Mall, presented trophies to the winners, alongside Santanu Lahiri,

President of the Bengal Chess Association, and Vice President Sabyasachi Tripathi. The event featured a gripping seven-round FIDE Swiss League tournament, offering students a platform to demonstrate their strategic skills in a first-come, first-served competition exclusive to school students. Subhadip Basu, GM of Acropolis Mall stated that playing chess helps improve critical thinking and analytical abilities. For pupils, especially in the digital age, it is of great importance. Due to the tremendous response from schools, Acropolis Mall is sponsoring the first interschool chess competition again this year in partnership with the Bengal Chess Association. They are appreciative that the Bengal Chess Association has selected Acropolis Mall as a partner. They get great satisfaction from seeing kids absorbed in thinking through how they are going to move on

the chequerboard against their rivals. Children who participate in these mind sports develop improved focus and mental agility, which are necessary for academic achievement. The top three winners in the individual category were Anshuman Dey from Frank Anthony Public School (6 points out of seven rounds), Shreeyansh Kejriwal from Lakshipath Singhania (6 points), and Rihansh Pandey from Calcutta International School (6 points). First place went to Lakshmipath Singhania Academy with 17.5 points, followed by South Point with 13.5 points, and St. Xaviers Collegiate School with 13.5 points for the coveted Best School award. Furthermore, honourable winners in each age group received a total of forty awards.
