News Desk, News Nation 360 : To promote equality and inclusivity in the chess community, Kolkata Centre for Creativity (KCC) is hosting the inaugural All Bengal Rapid Chess Tournament for Visually and Hearing-Impaired Chess Players on the occasion of International Chess Day. Under the auspices of Sara Bangla Daba Sangstha, the Kolkata District Chess Association and the Nadia District Chess Association are organising this tournament, which aims to give visually and hearing-impaired students of all ages a chance to compete at a high level and demonstrate that
everyone can enjoy the game, regardless of physical limitations. The main participants in the tournament are students from Nawadip APC Blind School, Voice of World, Jadavpur University, and other institutions. KCC guarantees eye-catching awards and trophies for the top 10 players, unique prizes for particular age groups, and a healthy, welcoming atmosphere for all competitors and enthusiasts. The KCC Braille Library on the first floor also opens on this day. Their mission is to break down barriers and create a more equitable world where everyone can participate in cultural and artistic experiences. They base their vision on the principle of inclusivity and strive to achieve this by making art accessible to individuals with visual impairments. They work hard to provide people with tactile representations of artwork and thorough Braille descriptions so they can interact meaningfully and fully with the art. Grandmaster Dibyendu Barua, a three-time Indian Chess Champion and the second Indian after Viswanathan Anand, second Bengali after Niaz Murshed, and third South Asian after Niaz and Anand to hold the title of Chess Grandmaster, was their Guest of Honour at this event.
