His first novel, written in two volumes, explores the political, social, and cultural history of Bengal from 1920 to 1977, covering the rise of the left-wing government. The novel reflects the successes and failures of political movements in Bengal, particularly in the 1960s and 70s, the struggles of the leftists, and the social history of Medinipur. There is optimism for a better future in the title "Dhaner Shishe Swapna Aache Notun Bhorer." Through this book, the author Tapan Kumar Samanta depicts Bengal's sociopolitical environment, which emerges from the Medinipur district's political context. The novel's release also served as a tribute to rebel Matangini Hazra, who spearheaded an attack on a Medinipur police station on the 1942 Quit India Movement's Martyrs Day.
