News Desk, News Nation 360 : As a part of commemorating World Kidney Day, Manipal Hospitals, Kolkata, held awareness programs across its hospitals following the theme "Are Your Kidneys OK? Detect Early, Protect Kidney Health," focusing on early detection and prevention, with that at Manipal Hospital, Dhakuria witnessing expert talks from Dr Arghya Majumder, Dr Ritesh Kauntia, Dr Uttayan Chakraborty, Dr Bastab Ghosh, and Dr Bimalesh Purkait discussing major problems of kidney disease, risk factors, and technological upgradation in treatment, whereas at Manipal Hospital, Mukundapur, the campaign featured an early morning session by Dr Rajiv Sinha speaking with children and parents regarding kidney care and a late afternoon session wherein Dr Prasanna Kumar Mishra provided information about kidney health and progress in treatments followed by a
interactive session with adult kidney patients and their kin in the presence of Dr Bappaditya Mukhopadhyay. In the session at Mukundapur Unit, Dr Prasanna Kumar Mishra, Senior Consultant, Urology & Transplant Surgeon, stated that important precautions against kidney problems include drinking enough water, eating a balanced diet, and avoiding too much salt. However, maintaining kidney function and averting long-term problems requires early diagnosis, consistent monitoring, and prompt intervention. Thanks to developments in medical technology, patients can now recover more quickly and have better results from endoscopic and minimally invasive procedures. Most significantly, since maintaining appropriate blood sugar levels is essential to sustaining optimal kidney function, they highly advise making lifestyle changes a priority. The day's activities and interactive sessions were designed to lead participants through clinically important topics, from recognising kidney disease signs to the complexities of properly managing them for general health.
