SERVES FOR NATION
News Desk, News Nation 360 : Merlin I Am Kolkata, the CSR arm of Merlin Group, has shown its continuing commitment to community growth by providing educational assistance, such as school bags, stationery, and textbooks, to more than 150 students of Jai Hind Aboitonic Vidyalaya, a philanthropic school operated by Jai Hind Club in Tollygunge; this is the fifteenth year of continuing support to the school, which provides free primary education based on the West Bengal Government syllabus in Lower Nursery to Class IV for poor children from the surrounding slum and red-light districts, with students going on to and doing well in mainstream schools after completing Class IV, an effort recently underscored by a visit of Merlin Group staff members, who personally distributed the donated materials to the students. Merlin Group has CSR initiatives with positive impacts, such as a waste management initiative in partnership with Kolkata Society for Cultural Heritage, which has been acknowledged by United Nations Sustainable Development Goals mission, undertaking tree plantation drives in the city, organizing a digital skill development center for slum kids at Dhapa, and establishing a vocational tailoring center for poor women in association with DRCSC and Terre des Hommes Suisse; media publications like The Times of India and The Millennium Post have recognized such community services. Speaking on the occasion, Saket Mohta, Managing Director, Merlin Group, stated that at Merlin I Am Kolkata, they think that education is the most effective means of bringing about change. For the past 15 years, they have been happy to assist Jai Hind Aboitonic Vidyalaya, and they are still dedicated to helping these kids grow up to be self-assured, independent adults.
