News Desk, News Nation 360 : Ahead of the film's special screening at the Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF), the filmmakers of the anthology film My Melbourne celebrated culture by taking a nostalgic journey on Kolkata's famous Heritage Tram. This special occasion represented the shared tram heritage of Melbourne and Kolkata, two cities rich in creativity, history, and culture. The acclaimed anthology film "My Melbourne," directed by a quartet of prominent filmmakers-Imtiaz Ali, Onir, Rima Das, and Kabir Khan-is creating waves globally. The film premiered at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM), taking on powerful themes such as race, gender, sexuality, and disability, offering a poignant reflection on the multicultural tapestry of Melbourne. To further engage with audiences, the filmmakers embarked on a unique journey, riding a Heritage Tram adorned with images from the film. Starting from the historic Esplanade Tram Depot, they interacted with cinephiles in an intimate meet-and-greet session, fostering deeper connections with the audience. The project emphasises Kolkata's tram system, which has been a part of the city for more than 150 years, as a cultural asset. The event reaffirmed the two cities' linked identity and artistic spirit by drawing comparisons to Melbourne's famous trams.
