News Desk, News Nation 360 : The renowned 30th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF), which begins on December 4, 2024, will have the world premiere of the Odia feature film LAHARI, which was written and directed by Amartya Bhattacharyya, a National Award winner, and produced by Jhilik Motion Pictures. The movie will be the only Odia film competing at this year's festival, appearing in the Indian Languages Competition area. There will be three showings of the movie on December 8, 9, and 10. Adieu Godard, directed by Amartya Bhattacharyya, has previously taken home the Best Film prize at the 27th Kolkata International Film Festival. Lahari is a scintillating cinematic ride against the tranquil canvas of Odisha's eco-tourism, where themes of friendship, fatherhood, and coming-of-age unfold. A visually resplendent ride through diverse landscapes, cultural heritage, and entrepreneurial spirits of the state, it follows a riveting ensemble cast as they
wade through the intricacies of relationships and personal growth. Director Bhattacharyya brings out the emotional depth of the characters in his film, which is poignant and immersive. The talented music director, Kisaloy Roy, has composed a beautiful soundscape for the evocative storytelling. Lahari, with a stellar cast including some of the most renowned Odia actors and special cameos, promises to be a cinematic celebration of the rich culture and natural beauty of Odisha. Sharing his thoughts, director Amartya Bhattacharyya, also the writer, cinematographer and editor of the film, stated that the premiere at a major festival like KIFF makes him glad and enthusiastic. This is his first time working with Jhilik, and he believes that the film industry needs strong female producers who are open to different ideas.
