News Desk, News Nation 360 : World Tuberculosis Day is commemorated throughout the world on March 24th every year to raise public awareness regarding tuberculosis and encourage the eradication of the disease all over the world. In India, the National Tuberculosis Eradication Programme was initiated by the Central Health Ministry under the 'TB Eradication 100-Day Pledge' scheme, which was implemented from December 9th of last year until this year's World Tuberculosis Day on March 24th. As part of this mission, World Tuberculosis Day this year in Kolkata was observed at the Maa Sarada Charitable Dispensary run by the Bagbazar Ramakrishna Math, where screening for TB was done among underprivileged individuals with the help of the Kolkata branch office of the National Small Industries Corporation. Swami Abhinnananda Maharaj, Project Coordinator of Bagbazar Ramakrishna Math, stated that in collaboration with NSIC, they have arranged TB tests for 1,000 patients and will also provide necessary medications. This number will be increased further in the future.
