They also shared a remarkable success story about a 17-year-old foreign patient who received treatment at Ruby Cancer Centre and will soon return to his home country. medical oncologist Dr Sudipta Bandyopadhyay emphasised the value of early detection and medical oncology advancements for the treatment of breast cancer, while radiation oncologist Dr Sandip Sarkar informed everyone about the increased prevalence of breast cancer in men. The Medical Director, Dr Abhijit Paul, then delivered two crucial announcements to improve access to care and prevention for breast cancer. Experts discussed the rising incidence of breast cancer, especially among women, and highlighted the importance of early detection and treatment. They emphasized advancements in radiotherapy and medical oncology, as well as the role of surgery in breast cancer treatment. A unique case of a young man with Osteosarcoma who underwent successful limb salvage surgery was presented. The hospital announced a lifetime free breast cancer screening clinic and free mammograms for the first 50 patients each month. Cancer survivors shared their experiences, emphasizing the importance of early detection and the potential for a complete cure. The event concluded with a strong message to be alert, seek early detection, and take preventive measures like regular self-breast examinations and annual mammograms.
