News Desk, News Nation 360 : After suffering from severe chest pain and excessive perspiration for more than three hours, a 73-year-old woman with a history of diabetes and hypertension was sent to Narayana Health, RN Tagore Hospital, Mukundapur. Immediate life-saving actions were necessary after an ECG showed anomalies upon arrival, indicating a major heart attack with extremely low blood pressure. An experienced team under the direction of Dr. Debdatta Majumdar, Consultant-Cardiology (Adult) Narayana Health, RN Tagore Hospital, sprang into action with the hospital's cutting-edge emergency response skills. The patient received prompt, life-saving care. A timely diagnosis revealed that her heart's pumping capacity had plummeted to a mere 30%, significantly below the normal range of 60-65%. The medical team immediately initiated preparations for an emergency angioplasty. However, fate took a sudden turn as the patient suffered a cardiac arrest. The hospital's emergency team swiftly responded, administering a life-saving shock to restore her heart rhythm. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the medical team made a crucial decision to place the patient on an Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) to stabilize her condition. Once stabilized, she was rushed to the catheterization lab. A rapid angiogram confirmed a complete blockage in the heart's main artery. Within a mere 30 minutes, a
skilled team of doctors performed a successful angioplasty, clearing the blockage and significantly improving the patient's condition. This timely intervention highlights the importance of quick decision-making and seamless collaboration between the emergency and cardiac care teams. Post-surgery, the patient's blood pressure stabilized, and she was transferred to the Critical Care Unit (CCU) for further monitoring. The IABP support was removed the following day, and after a total of five days in the hospital, she was discharged in stable condition. This remarkable case underscores the hospital's commitment to providing world-class cardiac care and saving lives. An echocardiography revealed that the heart's pumping capacity had dropped to 30%, far less than the typical range of 60–65%, according to Dr Debdatta Majumdar, they scheduled an emergency angioplasty right away. However, the patient went into unexpected cardiac arrest while everything was getting ready. To re-establish her heart rhythm, the hospital's emergency team promptly started Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) procedures and gave her a life-saving shock.
