News Desk, News Nation 360 : The All India Seishinkai Shitoryu Karate Do Federation successfully held the spectacular 8th International Karate Championship - Indian Challengers' Cup in Kolkata. From July 26 to July 28, 2024, over 6000 players from Malaysia, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and India competed in the three-day competition. Competitors competed in 116 categories in the Sub-Junior, Cadet, Junior, Senior, and Masters divisions, with ages ranging from 5 to seasoned veterans. Among the exciting events of the competition was the Boys and Girls Team Kumite event, which was a significant highlight. The victors took home a total of Rs. 3 lakh in prizes.
Many social media sites carried live coverage of the tournament, giving a larger audience a chance to see the skill and sportsmanship on exhibit. The prestigious karate championship witnessed an impressive turnout of dignitaries, including Saugata Roy, Pulak Roy, Col. Navendra Singh Paul, Krishna Chakraborty, and Satnam Singh Ahluwalia. The event's success can be largely attributed to the tireless efforts of Hanshi Premjit Sen, the Chief Organizer and President of KAB. Renowned for his unwavering commitment to Bengal's karatekas, Hanshi Premjit Sen has been instrumental in fostering a thriving karate ecosystem in the state. His three decades of dedication
have transformed him into a revered figure in the global karate fraternity, earning him the title of a living legend for his invaluable contributions to the sport in India and beyond. He stated that players are unable to travel abroad or engage in skill-enhancing interactions with other players due to financial limitations. Every year, he hosts this tournament just to provide their players with an opportunity to see and learn from international players without having to invest any financial resources.
