This esteemed occasion, which takes place once a year, aims to address the issues confronting the tea sector and provide a common course for growth that is both equitable and sustainable. The Indian Tea Association and Solidaridad, a global sustainability organisation, hosted this year's event. The Asia International Tea Summit brought together industry leaders to discuss critical issues like sustainability, market volatility, and climate change impacting tea production. The event highlighted the importance of collaboration among stakeholders to build a resilient and prosperous tea sector. The summit recognized the significant role of smallholder farmers and emphasized the need for fair pricing, responsible sourcing, and reduced carbon footprints. To celebrate excellence in tea production, the Asia Tea Alliance hosted an award ceremony honouring innovative and high-quality teas, both machine-made and artisanal. The event was graced by Rituparna Sen Gupta, who highlighted the health benefits of tea and the importance of supporting smallholder farmers. The summit underscored the ATA's commitment to a sustainable future for the Asian tea industry, focusing on improving the livelihoods of tea workers, ensuring fair returns for producers, and providing a high-quality supply of tea to global markets. The Tea Boards of India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Indonesia, and China were among the important tea associations that attended the summit in Kolkata. With the shared goal of developing a robust and sustainable tea industry throughout Asia, ATA has emerged as a key forum for cooperation, policy formation, and information sharing among the region's tea-producing nations.
