News Desk, News Nation 360 : The Talking Zebra is a novel road safety awareness campaign that Zuno General Insurance, a modern digital insurer that was formerly known as Edelweiss General Insurance, has started to inform drivers and pedestrians about the significance of obeying traffic laws entertainingly and memorably. Shanai Ghosh, MD & CEO of Zuno General Insurance stated that the Talking Zebra campaign is their unique way of combining education and entertainment to encourage positive behaviour on the streets, both for the driving community and pedestrians. They have also gone beyond awareness by using rewards to influence behavioural change with their telematics-based Pay-How-You-Drive (PHYD), which incentivises good driving behaviour with discounts on car insurance premiums. By participating in PHYD, drivers will be encouraged to adopt safer practices, ultimately contributing to safer roads, fewer accidents, and fewer fatalities throughout India. This project is part of their commitment to launching initiatives that create
lasting, positive change. Zuno General Insurance has come out with the "Talking Zebra" campaign, which it launched as part of its commitment to road safety and as a step towards aligning itself with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways' declaration of January as Road Safety Month. This new campaign, starting from 16th to 25th January, will feature a witty and interactive zebra mascot that comes alive at busy traffic signals in six major cities: Mumbai, Goa, Kolkata, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru. The zebra mascot, which embodies the importance of zebra crossings, will engage with drivers and pedestrians using humour and wit to make road safety a topic of conversation. It is through these interactions that the Talking Zebra reminds everyone to "Keep your cool, follow traffic rules" through respect for zebra crossings, following signals at the road crossings, and the prevention of jaywalking. This campaign shall bring about a culture of responsible usage of the roads and be part of bringing road accidents down considerably across the nation.
